Biography
Morad Mokhtar is an Assistant Professor at Université Mohammed VI Polytechnique, Ben Guerir, Morocco, specializing in molecular biology, bioinformatics, transposable elements, and database and web development. His research encompasses genome mapping, computational biology, and data mining, with notable contributions to crop genomics and molecular breeding. He received the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation at the 3rd Date Palm Festival in Siwa in 2017. His most-cited publication, "Genic and Intergenic SSR Database Generation, SNPs Determination and Pathway Annotations, in Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.)" (2016), has been cited 31 times and exemplifies his work on molecular marker development and genomic resources in agriculturally important species. He has contributed to multiple collaborative projects on wheat salt tolerance, DNA barcoding, date palm gender determination, and barley disease resistance.
