APC · USD 1,800 · Payable only after acceptance
One published charge, separated from editorial decisions
The JPMC article processing charge is USD 1,800 for every accepted article type. There is no submission fee or review fee.
Published charge
Submission and peer review do not require payment. An invoice is issued only after a manuscript has been accepted through the editorial process.
| Article type | APC | When invoiced | Submission or review fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| All accepted article types | USD 1,800 | After acceptance | None |
Editorial independence
Ability to pay, funding source, waiver or discount status, membership, and optional services do not affect reviewer selection, the review, the decision, or the handling of an appeal.
What the APC supports
The charge supports publication operations after acceptance and the infrastructure used to maintain an openly accessible article.
Editorial administration
Submission checks, peer-review coordination, decision records, author communication, and integrity screening.
Production
Copy preparation, layout, proof coordination, and publication in available HTML, PDF, and XML formats.
Identification and hosting
Crossref DOI registration, article metadata, platform hosting, access, and routine metadata maintenance.
Record maintenance
Corrections, retractions, linked notices, license information, and post-publication metadata updates when required.
The current JPMC schedule lists no separate page, color, figure, supplementary-file, or mandatory language-editing charge.
Waivers and discounts
A partial waiver or discount may be considered when an author documents insufficient grant, institutional, or other publication funding. It is not automatic and must be confirmed in writing by the editorial office.
- Requests should explain the funding position and identify available institutional or grant support.
- Apply before submission or as early as possible during evaluation, and before acceptance or invoicing. Late requests may not be available.
- Provide evidence of the available funding position and any relevant institutional or grant support. The editorial office may request additional documentation.
- Editorial decisions are based on scientific merit and remain independent of waiver requests or ability to pay.
- The reduction is determined case by case. Only written approval from Open Access Pub changes the invoiced amount.
No urgency or membership requirement
Authors are not required to buy a membership, optional editing service, or other product to submit, receive review, appeal a decision, or qualify for publication.
Invoice, payment, and withdrawal information
When is payment requested?
Only after editorial acceptance. The invoice identifies the manuscript, amount, currency, and payment instructions. Authors should route institutional procurement questions to the editorial office.
Can an institution or funder pay?
Institutional invoicing and supporting documentation may be requested. The corresponding author remains responsible for ensuring that the payment arrangement is authorized.
How is a withdrawal handled?
Manuscripts withdrawn within 3 days of submission are not subject to a withdrawal charge. A manuscript withdrawn more than 3 days after submission incurs a withdrawal charge equal to 30% of the journal's APC. Authors must receive official withdrawal confirmation before submitting the manuscript to another journal.
Does payment trigger a publication deadline?
No publication-time promise is made. Production depends on complete files, author proof review, integrity checks, metadata, license, and resolution of any outstanding corrections.
Need a written APC or invoice clarification?
Contact the editorial office before relying on an unconfirmed waiver, discount, tax, procurement, cancellation, or refund assumption.
