About the Journal of Immunization
Advancing vaccine science, immunization policy, and public health impact through rigorous peer review and open access dissemination of research that protects communities worldwide.
JI serves researchers and practitioners who demand both scientific excellence and practical impact. Our editorial process balances methodological scrutiny with timely publication, recognizing that immunization research often addresses urgent public health needs. Every manuscript receives expert peer review from specialists in vaccinology, immunology, epidemiology, health policy, implementation science, or other relevant disciplines, depending on the study focus.
We support diverse research methodologies - from laboratory immunogenicity studies and clinical trials to observational epidemiology, health economics analyses, qualitative research on vaccine acceptance, and program evaluations. This breadth reflects the multidisciplinary nature of modern immunization science, where molecular discoveries must ultimately translate into population-level health gains.
- Rapid Peer Review: Average first decision within 14 days, with efficient editorial workflows that respect researchers' timelines while maintaining rigorous quality standards.
- Expert Editorial Oversight: Manuscripts evaluated by specialists in vaccine immunology, infectious disease epidemiology, health policy, program implementation, and clinical vaccinology.
- Comprehensive Scope: From basic immunology and vaccine development to health systems research, policy analysis, and behavioral science - reflecting the full continuum of immunization science.
- Ethical Publishing Standards: COPE-compliant processes ensuring research integrity, conflict of interest transparency, ethical approval verification, and responsible data sharing.
- Global Indexing: Articles discoverable through Google Scholar, academic databases, and institutional repositories, maximizing visibility to relevant stakeholders worldwide.
- Flexible Article Types: Original research, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, case studies, program evaluations, policy analyses, methods papers, and commentaries all welcome.
JI welcomes submissions across all dimensions of immunization science and practice. Our scope encompasses vaccine development, immunological mechanisms, clinical evaluation, program implementation, health economics, policy analysis, and behavioral research that advances understanding of how to protect populations through vaccination.

Authors should prepare manuscripts according to our Instructions for Authors, which detail formatting requirements, ethical prerequisites, reference style, and supplementary material specifications. All submissions must include complete author affiliations, conflict of interest disclosures, funding acknowledgments, ethical approval documentation, and data availability statements where applicable.
Manuscripts can be submitted online through our submission portal or via email to [email protected]. Upon receipt, submissions are screened for scope fit, ethical compliance, and technical completeness before entering peer review. Authors receive timely updates throughout the review process and detailed feedback to support manuscript improvement.
JI operates on an author-pays model to sustain open access publication. A reasonable Article Processing Charge (APC) covers editorial management, peer review coordination, copyediting, typesetting, XML structuring, DOI registration, and long-term digital preservation. APCs are charged only upon manuscript acceptance, ensuring authors incur no costs for reviewed but declined submissions.
We recognize that financial barriers can limit participation from researchers in resource-constrained settings. Authors facing genuine financial hardship are encouraged to contact the editorial office to discuss waiver or discount options prior to submission.
JI is proud to partner with researchers and institutions advancing immunization science globally. Our publishing community includes:
