Portal Vein Thrombosis

Portal vein thrombosis is a type of blood clot that develops in the vein that connects the intestine to the liver. It is a serious medical condition that can lead to life-threatening complications, such as hepatic encephalopathy, ascites, and portal hypertension. Treatment usually involves anticoagulant therapy and other measures to prevent complications. Early diagnosis is important to avoid the potentially fatal consequences of portal vein thrombosis. It is important to identify risk factors such as cirrhosis, liver transplantation, and other conditions to prevent its occurrence.
