Overview

The nervous system is the complex network of neurons and supporting cells that coordinates sensory information, motor control, and regulatory functions throughout the body, comprising both the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and peripheral nervous system. Research published in the International Journal of Neuroinformatics addresses diverse aspects of nervous system health and function, including epidemiological studies of central nervous system malignancies, diagnostic challenges in conditions such as progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy and lymphoma infiltration, and clinical presentations of neurological disorders including multiple sclerosis and Behçet's disease. The journal has featured investigations into the molecular and developmental biology of the nervous system, examining evolutionary conservation of genes involved in vertebrate brain development and genetic disorders such as Tay-Sachs disease. Additional work explores the nervous system's role in chronic disease processes and theoretical frameworks for understanding disease progression. Studies on autonomic nervous system function have examined physiological responses to interventions including meditation practices, measured through heart rate variability and stress indices. This research contributes to understanding nervous system structure, function, pathology, and therapeutic approaches across clinical, molecular, and physiological domains.
