Overview

Liquid chromatography is an analytical separation technique in which a liquid sample is carried by a mobile phase through a column packed with a stationary material, so that different components travel at different rates and are separated according to how strongly each interacts with the stationary phase. It is widely used to isolate, identify, and quantify individual compounds within complex mixtures, and it is frequently coupled to detectors such as ultraviolet absorbance or mass spectrometry to confirm identity and measure concentration. The method is fundamental to pharmaceutical analysis, bioanalysis, food safety testing, and environmental monitoring. Research published in Current Scientific Research applies liquid chromatography across these applications. Examples include liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry for food safety analysis, tandem mass spectrometry methods for measuring drugs such as febuxostat in human plasma to support bioequivalence studies, a sensitive method for determining danshensu in rat plasma, and high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection for quantifying atorvastatin calcium in pharmaceutical formulations. Further work uses chromatographic methods to detect adulterants in dietary supplements and to develop new column materials for small-molecule separation. This page gathers peer-reviewed, open-access articles relevant to liquid chromatography and its analytical applications.
