Overview

Clinical trials are prospective research studies that evaluate the safety, efficacy, and effectiveness of medical interventions, including drugs, biologics, devices, and procedures, in human participants. They are conducted in sequential phases, progressing from initial safety and dosing studies to larger comparative trials, and rely on methodological safeguards such as randomization, blinding, control groups, and predefined endpoints to minimize bias. Clinical trials generate the evidence that supports regulatory approval and clinical practice, and their findings are interpreted alongside case reports, observational data, and systematic synthesis. Research relevant to this journal addresses clinical-trial methodology, therapeutic evaluation, and the evidence base for interventions. Studies include the rationale for blinding in therapeutic research on neurological disorders, the necessity of clinical testing before market availability of new drugs and devices, meta-analysis of targeted antibody therapy in advanced gastric cancer, systematic review of dietary effects on vaccine immune response, evaluation of vaccine development, and assessment of plant-derived compounds for glycemic control. Related work examines gene therapy, toxicology and drug-safety review, and computational approaches to toxicity. The journal publishes peer-reviewed clinical research, trial reports, reviews, and case-based studies that inform the evaluation and evidence base of medical interventions across diverse therapeutic areas.
