Biography:

  • May 1994 - July 1998, attendance at the Laboratory of Histology and Embriology, University of Catania. March 1999 - September 1999, trainee at the Microbiology Institute of the University of Catania. 
  • 1999, had a contract with the Fidia Oftal to study the cytological and histological alterations of the mice cornea, under pharmacological treatment. 
  • 2001-2004, had several contracts with the Research Institute “Giorgio Sisini” of University of Milano, to carry out cytological, histological and histopathological studies on animal tissues within clinical trials propaedeutic for marketing of antitumoral, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterical drugs. 
  • 2002, had a contract with the Department of Animal Biology “M. La Greca” in order to “ Examine with optical and eletronical microscopes the several male and female genital tracts of some Coleoptera to identify their precise role in the reproductive process”. 
  • 2004-2007, Responsable of the elettronical microscope laboratory, with the Department “G.F. Ingrassia” of University of Catania. 
  • 1998-present, taken part in many Research University Projects (60%) and in many Regional and National (40% and co-financed projects) projects. 
  • 2008-2011, Coordinator and scientific responsible of the University research projects (PRA). 
  • 2014-Coordinator and scientific responsible of research funding of University (FIR) 2011 Scientific responsible of the Ministerial Scientific Project "Assessment of the effects of zinc on the embryonic development of Danio rerio (Teleostei: Cyprinidae)." 
  • 2013 Partner European project WATER (winnig applications of nanotechnology for resolutive hydropurification), funded under the Seventh Framework Programme with EUR 4 million, with the objective of evaluating the toxicity of engineered nanoparticles and nanomaterials on different model organisms (Grant 316082). 
  • During her continuous research activity produced more than 80 publications on National and International journals and Acts of many National and International Congresses with regard to several arguments concerned cytology, histology, developmental biology and cell biology.
